A minutes silence was observed following the playing of the Last Post by trumpeter, Peter Kingsnorth. During the contemplations, only the trickling sound of the fountain from the Pearce memorial statue and the soft whining of a small baby, could be heard.Among local representatives who layed wreaths on behalf of their Associations were Inspector Stewart Dunbar of Thames valley Police, Station Officer Andy Ford, representing Thame Fire Officers, and on behalf of the Thame Twinning Association, Neil Hancock (pictured) who layed a wreath on behalf of Thame’s twin town, Montesson.

Inter-Club Fishing Success Despite Cold Wind (Contributed)
THAME Angling Club were fishing an inter-club match against Wycombe Thames, down at crendon Bridge this weekend.
The prospects were looking good after last week’s results in the Thame Tackle teams of fours. There was a little extra water flowing through the river after the rain on Friday night although the cold wind on the day put the fish down a bit.
Top rod for the Wycombe Thames and overall winner was Eddie Wilson with 7.9.0 off the fancied Basin swim, with Tim Eele of the Thame club coming home in second place with 6.5.0 which put him 29 points clear in the league standings with 4 matches remaining.
On the team front, Thame came out on top taking the top four anglers from each side 11.14.0 to 9.13.0.
Thame are holding a team of threes event this coming Sunday, November 19.
To book your team in, call Ian Horrocks at Thame Tackle on 0184421. -

Narrow Loss For Young Thame United
Thame United 1, Milton United 2. 7/11/06 MATCH REPORT (Contributed)
THE young Thame team narrowly lost to a more experienced Milton United side on Tuesday evening. The opening exchanges were fairly even with neither goalkeeper troubled for the first 25 minutes. Milton were then awarded a free-kick about 35 yards from the Thame goal. As the ball was floated into the Thame box, Milton midfielder Matt Styles rose high to head it just under the Thame crossbar from about eight yards. Thame went close a few minutes later when Nick Gibson side footed a low cross from the left towards the corner of the goal but Milton keeper, Gareth walker, reacted well and pulled off a good save.
The visitors increased their lead eight minutes into the second half when a defence-splitting pass found Vince Rusher unmarked about 10 yards from goal. Rusher finished confidently, giving Thame goalkeeper Paul Searl no chance. Thame fought back and pulled a quality goal back in the 65th minute. Nick Gibson picked the ball up midway inside the visitors half and ran at goal but was forced to go left. He played a 1-2 with Joe Da Silva before heading for the by-line and crossing for Adrian Smith to volley home from five yards.
The last 20 minutes saw Thame pressurising the Milton goal, but they defended well and Walker pulled of several good saves. When the final whistle blew, the Milton veterans had done just enough to collect the points.
Thame United: Searl, Smith, Watkins, Graves, Bell, Kitson, Gibson, Connelly, (Cairns) Weaver (Redding), Jack, Da Silva.

Renewed Warning About PVC Door Security
POLICE are renewing their appeal for information and warning residents to improve their security after the spate of burglaries in Thame last week.
Between 10.30pm (02/11) and 6.30 am (03/11) three houses were broken into in Thame. The houses were in Astley Road, Fairfax Close and Marston Road. Small items were stolen from the houses including documents, credit cards, mobile phones, MP3 players, a laptop computer and a handheld PDA.In each incident the burglars entered the property through the front door. These burglaries are part of an ongoing series where access to the property is gained through UPVC doors.
Lesley Nesbitt, Crime Reduction Advisor said: “These burglaries are very traumatic as they occur overnight when the occupants are in bed and are only discovered when the occupant gets up the following morning. These burglaries are preventable if residents would get into the habit of double locking their front doors from the inside before they go to bed.
“Consider fitting a letterbox cage or other restrictor, which prevents thieves from putting their hands or gadgets through the letterbox and trying the latches from the inside.”Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to contact PC Haynes at Thame police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don?t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. Lesley Nesbitt can be contacted via 0845 8 505 505 should you require any further information or advice on home security.
Home security leaflets are also available from Thame police station. Front counter hours are 10am until 6pm Monday to Saturday.
ED> As reported yesterday, a 21 year old man has been charged in connection with the burglary on Marston Road.
