  • 01/07/10….Have your say about local health services (Status: press release)

NHS Oxfordshire wants to encourage the public in Oxfordshire to have a say about their local health services – from feedback about local GP surgeries or dentists, to suggestions of how specialist services are delivered in the county.

Talking Health ? NHS Oxfordshire?s online public involvement service – has been set up to enhance existing engagement activities to provide even more ways for local people to have a say about the specific health services that matter to them.

Individuals can easily register either online on the website, or by posting a completed registration form. Once registered people can say exactly what health topics they want to be involved in, and just how they would prefer to be involved ? from traditional face-to-face consultation workshops, to online discussion forums, to postal surveys, or purely receiving newsletters about a particular topic.

To get involved in a health subject that matters to you, visit the Talking Health website at:

The current entrance to the building will be redesigned and the outside of the building upgraded. It is expected that the site will become vacant in September, and it is hoped that the building works will be complete by March 2011.

Lyndsey Hart from PEEP (www.peep.org.uk) is the centre manager for the Red Kite Children?s Centre, which has been established in the area since April 2009.

Girls from the Friedrich-Ebert Gymnasium in Bonn, Germany, posed happily with Thame Mayor, Adam Buckland during a visit to Thame Town Hall yesterday.

Deputy Mayor, Don Butler, made light-hearted references to football, but was met with a polite silence from the students, part of a party of 30 on an exchange visit with Lord Williams?s School pupils.

The two schools have been twinned for 25 years.

  • 30/06/01….New stadium, new name

THAME Football Partnership’s new stadium and facilities, currently under construction, has been renamed following a major sponsorship deal with a local company.

Thame based ASM Auto Recycling Ltd are to provide sponsorship for the new stadium at Meadow View Park and for Thame United Football Club in a deal that provides ongoing support over the next three years.

The new Stadium will now be called the ASM Stadium.
Paul McDonagh, of ASM commented: “Having seen what Thame Football Partnership is doing locally for the community, we wanted to be part of this and help support the football partnership through this sponsorship. We are big supporters of football at all levels and we are really pleased that we are now getting involved with the club at both Youth and Senior levels.”

With Thame United back in the Hellenic Premier Division, and looking to be playing at The ASM Stadium in the late Autumn, TFP is hoping that attendances will increase with support for all the sides playing there.

TFP?s Frank Thompson said:”We are really pleased to have ASM as both our stadium and senior team sponsors. Paul and the other ASM Directors have demonstrated to us that they are passionate about their involvement with the clubs and we are looking forward to a long and successful partnership with them. The deal not only involves the name for the stadium but also includes new ASM home and away playing strips for Thame United sides, as well as branded training packs.
When it opens members of the new facility will also be entitled to a discount on car parts from ASM?s site in Rycote Lane.”

  • 30/06/10…Thame business sponsors Thame FC main stand

HOT on the heels of the new stadium name, after securing ASM as its main sponsor, Thame Football Partnership (TFP) has wasted no time in securing a three year sponsorship for the new main stand at Meadow View Park, with Thame Crash Repair Centre.

This follows Thame Crash Repair Centre?s sponsorship of the first team squad for all of their training wear and match-day tracksuits last season. TFP?s Frank Thompson stated: “The ground can hold up to 3,000 spectators and will be to Southern League ground grading status with the main stand initially seating close to 300. We will be delighted if we are filling all of the seats at our home games.”

Chris Connelly the owner of Thame Crash Repairs, commented: “we are delighted to be able to continue with our support for this community facility. The majority of the first team squad is made up of young local players who have progressed through from Thame Boys and it’s really encouraging to see them doing so well.

?Hopefully with this new facility in place, the club will be well set for the future with home grown talent coming through.

Thame Crash Centre’s sponsorship will be supported with press and radio coverage at the launch event, coverage throughout the season on the League websites with signage on and around the stadium promoting this, and advertising around the main pitch perimeter and match-day programmes.

The Main stand will be referred to as The Thame Crash Repair Centre Stand.

  • Thame Day Centre honours volunteer for 20 years

A Thame and District Day Centre volunteer was honoured and thanked today – and sent off with 20 years of photographic memories.

Joan Colwill, who for most of that time has also served as a Trustee of the Centre and committee member, spent her last day there in the same way as she has all the others, by chatting to members, assisting with meals and supporting the staff.

Staff, other volunteers and members were there to see Centre Manager, Gill Coleman present Joan with a bouquet of flowers and a photograph album of members past and present who have passed through during Joan’s 20 year association with the day centre.

Tea, cream and strawberry sponge and scones, made by volunteer, Pat Draper, were enjoyed by all following a a sing-along session and the presentations.

Gill Coleman commented: “Joan’s gifts as a friend to all our members, our volunteers and also her support for me, as manager, have been invaluable. We’ll miss her but we wish her every happiness in her new life in Bristol.

“In her 20 years service here she has embodied what all our volunteers and our Centre are about: improving the quality of life of our members through the kind of everyday human contact which is more rare than it should be in this day and age.”

Joan herself commented: “I get as much from the Centre as I give out. I just love it and I love the members. I shall miss it terribly. I shall miss all of you.”

Brenda Prosser, Chairman of the Centre?s Board of Trustees, praised Joan?s many roles in her service to the Centre: “We will miss her calm judgment in committee discussions, especially when we had difficult matters to discuss.”

Joan has also been a member of St Mary?s Church. She is moving to Thornbury, Bristol to be closer to her Son and his young family, and is determined to seek out a volunteering role for herself in her new home town.
